Staff working in Reception

Mrs Ellis is the teacher in Red Butterfly Class.

Miss Gledhill is the teacher in Green Butterfly Class.  Miss Harrop will also be working alongside Miss Gledhill as part of her SCITT teaching placement.

Miss Dean is the teaching assistant who works between both classes.

Mrs Mitchell and Miss Myers provide SEND support in Reception.

Miss Burke is our HLTA who will also be covering our classes half a day a week.

Following Government guidance our classes have STAGGERED START AND FINISH TIMES

RED BUTTERFLY CLASS:  Start at 8.45am. Finish at 3pm.

GREEN BUTTERFLY CLASS: Start at 9am. Finish at 3.15pm.

Our whole school staggered times is primarily for safety: to reduce the number of people on the playground and reduce the number of children in cloakrooms. If you have other children who start at the earlier time you MUST bring both children at the LATER times. Thank you for bringing your child to school at these times and for using the one way system to get to our classrooms, your understanding and cooperation is much appreciated.

Book Bags - Children are NOT to bring their school book bag in September. Each child will be provided with their own plastic zippy bag that they will keep in their trays in class.
The only items that children need to bring to school are; a named water bottle, a named lunchbox if they choose, and a named coat/hat/gloves (if needed).

Change of clothes bag - If you feel like your child may have a toilet accident, we welcome you to bring a bag with spare clothes to keep on their own peg. This bag will stay in school. Again, please make sure items of clothing including the bag is named.

PE Kit - From Wednesday 4th November, your child needs to wear an outdoor PE kit of; grey or black tracksuit bottoms, a white t-shirt, trainers (any colour), a hooded top (any colour) or their school jumper or cardigan EVERY WEDNESDAY. They need to come to school wearing their PE kit and do not need a change of clothing.

Tapestry - We use the online journal app called 'Tapestry' to record and share your child's learning with you at home. We love seeing what home learning your child does outside of school and encourage parents to share these photographs and videos via Tapestry which will contribute to your child's profile. We are delighted that together we are able to build a journal of your child’s learning journey in Reception class. #AsquithSpirit

Water bottles - Your child must bring a water bottle to school (water only please) every day. Due to the current COVID restrictions, cups are no longer allowed to be used in school so the children take their water bottles to lunch too. Please write your child's name on their water bottles as well as all items of school uniform.

Snack - Fruit or vegetables are provided in school as well as free school milk up until your child's 5th birthday. If you would like your child to continue to have milk in school after their 5th birthday, please visit the cool milk website -  https://www.coolmilk.com

Home learning activities- will now be sent home on a Friday on TAPESTRY. When children have completed their home learning activity please upload a photo or video to Tapestry by the following Wednesday. The children can earn team points for completing their home learning!

Please visit our class page and Tapestry as often as you can to keep up to date with all the latest news.

Download the 'school jotter' app for whole school newsletters and notifications. Thank you.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Amanda Ellis (amanda) on: Red and Green Butterflies BLOG!

Reception have been creative this week and have used various materials to create their very own 'big bad troll' from the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. The children have then used their Phonics sounds and the tricky word 'my' to write sentences to describe their troll.

We wore odd socks in class to kick start Anti-Bullying Week. In class we have been reading Elmer by David McKee and discussing and celebrating our differences. "We are all different and that's okay". #Friendship #Respect #AsquithSpirit
